The sower, the first logo identified as a symbol of Liguori Publications, first appeared in Liguorian magazine, March, 1933. This logo was accompanied by the tagline: "A popular monthly magazine according to the spirit of St. Alphonsus devoted to the growth of Catholic belief and practice." In November 1967 the sower and tagline were replaced by a symbol representing Christ, the divine hunter of souls. This image was commonly referred to as the Bowman. In 1996 our current logo and an updated corporate identity were proposed and accepted by the board of directors of Liguori Publications. We preserved the Bowman, yet shifted our focus to the image of Christ as our center. The strength of the bold lines suggests the beauty of stained glass. Just as light diffuses through colored glass, we let the image of our logo speak to us of the light of Christ radiating his love. The logo serves as a metaphor for all that we produce. Our words, our images, and our music illuminate God's saving Word for all humanity. "Christ Our Light" respects our traditions, yet tightens our focus, setting our sights clearly on our mission of bringing Christ to the world. "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." |
