Acquisition Editor –Trade Books

Liguori Publications, a Roman Catholic Publisher, is seeking an experienced, energetic Acquisition Editor for its trade books. The applicant will possess the ability to acquire and evaluate manuscripts, work with authors to develop a manuscript, exhibit excellent editing and communication skills, have a solid grounding in Catholic beliefs and practices, and work within a vision and focus established by the publishing house. The trade book editor reports to the Editorial Director and works in collaboration with other acquisition editors and marketing staff to identify new market and product niches.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism (theology helpful)
  • Five years experience in Catholic book publishing, preferably in the acquisitions process
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Strong analytical and business skills
  • Exceptional follow-through, author management, organizational skills and deadline management
  • Knowledge of contracts and copyright
  • Desire to produce needed, well-developed books
  • Availability to travel.
