Faithware Librarian (Windows version)

I get an INIST error message when I try to install the Faithware Librarian CD-ROM on Windows. Is there a work-around?

Yes. Technically, it's not a conflict with Windows,, it's a conflict the InstallShield program is having with some software that is running on your system. The most well-known is the PT32.EXE. Most common scenario is that when installing the CD-ROM an error will occur and cause the installation to abort. InstallShield and Microsoft are aware of the problem and the newest version of InstallShield has fixed this problem.

In the meantime, here is all you need to do. It's VERY easy --

While running Windows, do a Ctrl+Alt+Del. That should bring up a dialog box listing all the processes running at that time. Look in this list for a process called PT32.EXE. If it is there, click on it to select it and then click the "End Task" button. Confirm any messages that you do wish to stop this process.

Then click the "Cancel" button to return to Windows.

That's all there is to it. Now try installing your Faithware CD-ROM again. In most cases it should install flawlessly. If you still continue to have problems, please e-mail Liguori's Technical Support and we will be happy to help you.
